Lovett Jordan (1803 - 1875)

Lovett Jordan [1803 Orange Co. SC - 1875 Newton Co. MS] m. Margaret Williamson. They appear in 1830 and 1840 SC census, and were parents of Queen Victoria Jordan [1857 Newton Co. MS - 1889 MS] who m. Joseph Samuel Hollingsworth.

I do not believe this was the Lovett Jordan in Co. H, whose mil. records from NARA indicate he joined the unit in 1861 at 18 years of age. There might well be a relationship [uncle, cousin?] because of the geographic proximity and name similarity. The other Jordans in Co. H. might be clues to follow.

William Perry? Jordan
My gg grandfather, WILLIAM (PERRY?)JORDAN (W P JORDAN), from Horry County, SC, who enlisted at Mt. Pleasant on Oct. 1, 1863, by Capt. Buck. He was hospitalized in Wilmington, NC, and transferred to Fayetteville, sick from a skin disease. He surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse, April 1865, at Lee's surrender. His tombstone reads 26 Inf Co A CSA, where is buried at Cedar Grove Bapt. Church Cemetery in Conway, SC. He died after 1900.
The fact that William joined in 1863 would indicate he was quite young and had just turned 16 or that he was involved in a war related business or had a disability which exempted him earlier.
