5th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry

Historical Notes:
The North Carolina 5th Infantry Regiment State Troops was organized at Halifax, North Carolina, in June and July 1861 with 12 companies A to M. Its companies were recruited in the counties of Cumberland, Gates, Johnston, Graven, Rowan, Betie, Wilson and Caswell. Companies L and M were transferred to the 32nd Regt. N. C. Infantry (S.T.) by S.O. 154, A&IGO, dated July 4, 1862, becoming (2nd) Co. K and (2nd) Co. I, respectively of that Regiment. Officers:
