Historical Notes:
There were two units which went by the designation of the Mississippi 2nd Infantry Regiment, State Troops. The first, also known as Quinn’s Regiment was commanded by Col. D. H. Quinn (P. H. Quin). The rosters contain 753 names. This regiment was organized for six months in late 1862 and mustered out in mid 1863. This unit was organized for 30 days service in 1864. Its roster contains 826 names. Virtually nothing is known of either one of these units.
