Historical Notes:
There were at least two, maybe four or six units which bore this name in Mississippi. The records are also confused with the Mississippi Minute Men units. This unit appears to have been formed earlier in the war - 1862 - 63.
Maj. W. B. Harper; mustered out summer 1863; This unit was also connected with 1st Infantry Battalion Minute Men and 13th Inf. Battalion, but from the roster lists there appears to be different units involved. The confusion may stem from having two commanders named Harper (Lieut. Col. J. Y Harper and Maj. W. B. Harper).
