HISTORICAL NOTES:

This unit was formed for 6 months service in late 1861. A note filed with the Georgia 5th Infantry Regiment states "Date mustered out of service given as May 1st, and May 16, 1862." It appears that this unit was temporarily designated as Company N of the Georgia 5th Infantry Regiment before becoming Co. C, 2d Battn. Ga. Sharpshooters on May 20, 1862.

The National Archives Index only contains 4 names for this unit, but the Georgia State Archives has muster rolls. They were previously on line at:
